Chapter 1
At an unnoticed corner of a quiet street in S city, there was a building built in the early nineties,
S city, Procurator San Fen Yuan1 is located here.
The story began in the economy cla.s.s where heavy charges against the prosecution which is a subsidiary department that was also located on the fifth floor of the building.
The afternoon was always the noisiest period of time—— playing poker, chess, walk around…...
Of course there are also idle workers who randomly hold chatting sessions——
“Ah, I say Chief, didn’t I heard that Lao w.a.n.g say that his family want to introduce you to a foreign company public relations manager? How is it? Have you guys met yet?” the one who is questioning is nicknamed as “Lao Ba”.

All in all, Lao Ba is younger than him just a few months —— but it seemed like as unwritten rule. These married people can put on a look of being experienced and would pried into someone else's matter, and always give ‘It’s time for you to settle down’, “Don’t ask too much” type of words which cause those who heard of it became furious.
Wei Cai suddenly stood up feeling a little agitated, “I’m going out for a while, if there is any problem you deal with it first”
Without waiting for Lao Ba’s reply, he willingly walked out of the noisy department. Due to smoking a cigarette and puffing out smoke agitatedly, his choking coughs were kind of bad.
His eyes also stung a little bit from the smoke and caused him to tear up a bit.
Letting his head to rest gently against the white wall at the smoking area, he shut his eyes slightly.
A person who had reached his thirties and haven’t put himself into the cage of marriage was something which provoked others to worry about—— however, on the contrary, that oneself have nothing to worry about, only other people’s sight start to change a little——
Thinking of yesterday’s phone call from Li mother who almost worried wanting him to settle down quickly, Wei Cai have some kind of indescribable upset feeling.
It’s not like he didn’t put his own effort —— he’s not only partic.i.p.ated in the organization units fellowships events, his colleagues’ beaus also had help to introduce him.
He had went and saw the girls as if he’s abiding the law. Even with the high charges of the white collar friendship clubs, he bit the bullet and paid the money to join, but those girls……
Those slightly pretty ladies, once they heard about him working at the Procuratorate, their faces stiffen. And those that didn’t mind about his career, once heard about him stayed at a.s.signed living quarters, would straight away displayed an expression of “a man with no house still dare to come out ”.
Therefore, several times since then, he really felt a blind date is like a big test of self-esteem.
However, what other ways he could possibly have —— coming from a remote town to test out oneself and finally managed to stay in this metropolis to work. Every month, the salary he received was not enough and yet, he still had to send a part of his salary to his parents.
The remaining money apart from maintaining his own lifestyle, how could he afford to buy this city’s ridiculously expensive house.
And in this noisy bustling city, a man without his own sanctuary will definitely cannot enter the eyesight of women that only chose capable and rich man.
He sighed from the bottom of his heart and looked at his watch. “It’s about time to get to work”, Wei Cai stubbed the rest of his cigarette and walked to the office.
From a far distance, he heard the department head section chief’s loud voice addressing, “Our procuratorate favourite girl ah…..”
Pushing the door, Wei Cai lightly coughed. It had disrupted the department head section chief’s daily speech routine. The section chief is in his forties and looking from his appearance, he also handsome and got this suave middle-aged fatherly look, but somehow he attracted to Lao Ba by common tastes. Every time he came by, they would kept chatted on forever. Because of this, even though he hated Lao Ba’s nasty gossips, he didn’t dare to express the words.
“Xiao Wei is back?”
“Section chief —— ”considered as he had gave greetings, Wei Cai sat back in his seat, took out the folder that he hadn’t done looking, thus showing he would began working.
“Xiao Wei——” The section chief had came over, pulled out his desk chair and sat down. “I have something to tell you about”
“What is it? Is it another arduous task? ” Looking at the director’s solemn face, he thought it got something to do with public affairs. Wei Cai didn’t dare to take it lightly, instead hurriedly adjusted his manner to give one's ears to listen.
“That case of Director Yang, the bureau had drafted some paper works, by next week it should be transferred to the court. I already decided to put you as the man-in-charge, later it should straight away send to your section.
I’ll let you do the opening, this time the other side defendant is Li Jia De. You better don’t take it easy, there is meticulous work to do, do not wait till you go on court and give San Yuan4 lose its face. ”
“I wouldn’t dare.” Though he replied that, Wei Cai heart went ‘ba-dump’ for a moment: The headboard of foreign trade department, Director Yang Dong Lai’s corruption case was currently the most popular with media, that was already a big blunder – not to mention the defence was done by Li Jia De.

Wei Cai himself had no direct contact with him before, but he had heard from several colleagues that, with that person’ iron mouth power, he can turn the tide into a magical story—— the moment the section chief said that name, he had became somewhat alarmed, what if on the court he was being refuted till he cannot fought back and surely then, his future would be so dark.
Confusion and depression, also counted the stress that had acc.u.mulated while he worked for a few years had increased. As he is in front of the leader, he definitely cannot backed out from his words. He repeatedly ensured the director that he will absolutely fought to the most of his ability on this case, only to see his anger disappeared from his face as he went back to his office.
Once the section chief left, the office was filled with loud complaints and quarrels, everyone was discussing about this accident one after another whether or not this will bring fortune or calamity to this office.
However, Wei Cai just sat in the corner in silence and didn’t expressed his opinion. He knew too well the significance of this case on him. Deputy Director Liu has reach the retirement age, yet the top management is having the interest to promote young low-level lawyers. Therefore, it is up to his ability to seize this golden opportunity.
While in deep thoughts, he could heard someone calling his name:
“Wei Cai— Wei Cai— what are you dazing about?”
He quickly looked up, but it was just Sister Cao who was in charge of organizing activities—Sister Cao was also a warm-hearted person, seeing him in his thirties and yet single, had helped him, regardless of what unit activities, she would always informed him.
“Sister Cao” Wei Cai greeted respectfully, and stood up pulling a chair, pouring tea while she is seated.
“I was here a few days ago, but you weren’t here. Well, this is Yang Tian Organisation’s annual social event invitation. It was given to me by my relative. I heard that Yang Tian have a lot of beauties till it can shock you to death. You must go and see it for yourself. ”

Sister Cao laughed and heavily patted his shoulder:

Although there is somewhat inferiority complex, that evening Wei Cai still put on his best suit to the venue; Yang Tian guesthouse, which was the five star luxury hotel that Yang Tian owned.
Usually Wei Cai will walked pa.s.sed by and only peered inside the building for a moment. Even he can’t got to know the beauties, but just took it as observing, after using self-comforting courage, he strode inside into the hall.
When he got to the corner of the hall, he heard men and women holding gla.s.ses of champagne standing under irradiated gorgeous crystal light, talking and laughing to each other, he started to feel regret.
The ladies in the group on the left were dressed in shiny evening formal dress were discussing about Paris boutiques, and the right side was elite conscious group of men were debating on the dollar exchange rate fluctuations impact on the Southeast Asian economy.
The conversation in another unknown language behind his back got him turn his head—the courage of looking back was gone—
At such event where everyone seems to know each other made him felt alone. It was destined that his fate was to be alone.
Holding a wine gla.s.s standing at the party, Wei Cai decided to eat a little before leaving. Placing the wine gla.s.s on the long table beside him, he turned his body and walked to the direction of the food area— his turning action was indeed too big, within seconds he accidently hit the woman behind him.
“Aiya, sorry. So sorry!” Trying to give a sincere apology, yet he cannot restrained himself trying to look at this lady whom was definitely the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He almost could not took his eyes off her.
Her face was not only outstanding, her body was wrapped in an extremely beautiful evening gown showing her excellent figure that was also very beautiful—so such beautiful girl really does exist, he blankly thought.
He immediately thought that probably the person talking to another person in an unknown language was this woman. He unavoidably felt ashamed, secretly hung his head down.
Probably the lady was accustomed to such thinking from the guys, that lady doesn’t seem to mind, only smiled and said: “Never mind!” Her voice sound like out of a valley6, again let Wei Cai’s heart to have little ripples.
To cover up his gaffe, Wei Cai nodded and expressed his apology. As he just about to turn and walk away, he was stopped by a scream.
“My G.o.d! Luo Na, your heart of the brightness in the night7 is gone!”
Only to see another young girl stood before the woman, with a face of horror, pointing at the woman’s collar position. That girl who heard quickly and nervously touched the place to find that it was empty and looked alarmed.
Attracted by the loud screams, the guests around had gathered over. One fat middle aged man was squeezed out.
“Why, what happen?” His tone calm and slow, as if such matters had happened before and he was accustomed to it.
“Director w.a.n.g, the necklace I wore had gone missing. That necklace is my birthday gift from my father. The pendant is worth hundreds of thousands dollar and that is the famous heart of the brightness in the night7. I wore the necklace a few minutes before, and in a blink of an eye, it gone missing. ”
For a person who suddenly lost more than one million yuan8, the lady’s voice sound very calm.
“Oh” He nodded his head. The man known as the w.a.n.g Director shows an expression of a detective.
Using the pair of small and yet G.o.d-like eyes swept the surrounding. “The thief shouldn’t have left the room yet, is there someone b.u.mp into you or what?”
Wei Cai, standing at the corner, his face’s colour immediately changed. Before he made any response, the young girl has already pointed to him and cried “Him! After he b.u.mped to Luo Na, the necklace had disappeared! ”
Suddenly all eyes are on Wei Cai. Being watched on with eyes of curiosity, suspicion and scorn, Wei Cai suddenly turned pale.
Standing there, his heart secretly complained: This is really sitting behind closed doors, woes come from heaven. This is great, partic.i.p.ate this party as being told, in the end fall into such problem.

“I…… I didn’t do it….. ” knowing clearly whatever he said will make his situation more awkward, Wei Cai stammered to defend himself.

“Hey, anyone here recognize this person?” The lady still blindly jeered at the side. Only to see the people around shaking their head, a burst of whispering sounds sounded the hall, Wei Cai who was listening felt furious.
“See, not even a single person here recognized you——certainly a person who, has deliberate misconduct manner had sneaked in” the girl said triumphantly, Wei Cai almost wanted to rush to her and give her two slaps, call her to stop the confusing the crowd with rumours.
Director w.a.n.g frowned on one side, asked: “Sir, do you have an invitation?”
“Yes yes yes. ” He busily replied, using one hand and searched his body.
——G.o.d, when one is unlucky really is drinking cold water and unable to cope with it, the invitation actually couldn’t be found.
Seeing him awkwardly stop finding, Director w.a.n.g’s face again show that peculiar smile:
“Sir, could it be that you cannot find it?” His voice was evident in irony.
Awkwardly nodding his head, look around to see everyone is looking at his direction at him in their own peculiar vision.
Wei Cai felt his blood rushing to his face, even as if his neck was burning hot.
“Then I’m sorry, Sir. As a police officer in this area, I think I have the rights to request a further query. ”
At such situation, Wei Cai had to try not to complicate things further and make it bigger—and complying with the request was the only thing he can do, although he was filled with all sorts of reluctance, he still nodded his head.
“Then please follow me.” Director w.a.n.g pointed outside, said to Wei Cai.
“Wait for a moment.” Luo Na who lose her necklace suddenly spoke, and turned her head to the tall man standing at the side, said “Ah De, You should go and help out. Director w.a.n.g may not be able to cope alone.”
What help——scared that he will escape?
Wei Cai bit his lower lip tightly, his eyes on the man walking towards his side. He was already fuming with anger as though smoke will come out from him.
“Sir, an innocent person is naturally innocent10” That man opened his mouth, his tone’s deep voice was truly touching, yet when Wei Cai listened, it only made him more angry.
“If you want to go, faster go!” In his heart where the 1000 people were cursed over and over again, Wei Cai turned around annoyed and walked out, his ears heard Director w.a.n.g and that guy who was called as Ah De’s footsteps following him.
Three peoples walked into a vacant conference room then to see the Director w.a.n.g locked the door. Wei Cai was a little confused while standing there ——a trail prisoner. He was not once or twice, but to be interrogated like this was in fact happening for the first time.
Having a job like his, the one thing he must avoid the most was to be involved in anything related to discipline, not to mention this was a serious offense.
Therefore, although Wei Cai knew that by confessing his real ident.i.ty he can avoid this terrible search, but in the future if there was any unfavourable circ.u.mstances he really cannot explain himself(beyond dispute/inexcusable). He can only hope now that things to be cleared quickly so that he can leave this thoroughly place.
“Sorry sir, please take off your clothes and let us check.”Director w.a.n.g’s indifferent voice seem like it used to do such thing.
Instead, Wei Cai who heard this got lighting-like shock—— had seen countless times of body-search, but when it was his turn, it seems like embarra.s.sment, but in such situation he didn’t have another way out.
With trembling hand towards the tie, he himself knew that his face was redder than cooked shrimp —— ashamed and resentful made him trembled from head to toe. He firmly clenched his teeth in rage to prevent tears from falling out.
First taking off the suit….. after that, the shirt. After putting the pants aside on a chair, he only wore a white underpants.
Seeing his own skin that cannot be counted as white was glowing of anger, the thought “finally my own body is not too bad” actually emerged in his head.
Wei Cai shook his head to throw away this inexplicable thought. Director w.a.n.g put on an expressionless look and walked towards Wei Cai’s clothes, raking to search.
A few minutes later, he shook his head in the direction of the guy that was called Ah De to indicate that he found nothing. A long sigh of relief, Wei Cai was about to say something, yet hear Director w.a.n.g say: “Sir, could you please take off your underwear, we have to check”
WHAT!
Wei Cai , shocked by his words, his eyes were wide open. Although he knew the check was to be thoroughly searched, but when it was his turn, he felt it was completely unacceptable.
Even if everyone was the same gender, but for his body to been seen under such circ.u.mstances was definitely not the same as being seen in public bath, able to keep in mind as if nothing happened.
Looking at his hesitation and resistance face, Director w.a.n.g seemed a bit impatient:
“Sir, if you hurry and take off your clothes we will settle this quickly, you also don’t want to stay here right?”
Wei Cai secretly looked at the sight of Ah De, to see that his face blankly looking at the side holding his arm, his face with indifferent expression.
Tightly gritted his teeth – today feeling fear cannot be good—— since I had already reached this stage, then might as well took off another one, it didn’t matter. Trying to convince himself, Wei Cai’s hands that move towards the underpants cannot stop trembling.
Fiercely gritted his teeth, he almost resorted to the energy from drinking milk to pull down with effort…..

“I’m sorry, Sir” The understatement of that tone has absolutely no hint of comfort. Seeing Director w.a.n.g greeted him while exiting the room, Wei Cai’s eyes on his back almost look like it’s about to spurt fire.
During the process of him dressing and undressing his clothes, Ah De who remained silent walked over. He pulled out a card tucked in his hands, a man's voice sounded again: “Unlawful bodily search is illegal, if you want to sue then please feel free to find me."
His approach had confused Wei Cai. When he arrived at his car, the writing had caused him to scream aloud——
