It's been a month since we started ambushing Legion patrols and things were going great. We've taken out over 30 squads or over 150 Legionaries, killing almost a third of the camp. Of course unlike in the game they were constantly getting reinforcements so the raid camp was still fully staffed.I had already realized that unless I made a head on a.s.sault there was no chance of wiping out the camp. They would just keep getting more soldiers.Of course that didn't mean it was pointless. Every soldier that had to be sent here was one who couldn't be on the Hoover Dam. Where the majority of the two armies were located.The Legion couldn't afford to move their soldiers around too much. Not to mention that the raid camp here was never meant to be on the front lines. It was only a stopping point for troop going deeper into the Mojave. So any Legionare they had to replace was a huge blow to them.And worst of all for them we had also ambushed quite a few supply shipments that were headed to the camp. Taking what we wanted and burning the rest.That last part left a sour taste in Ca.s.s's mouth considering what to her caravan but, she was able to ignore it considering who we were fighting.In the pa.s.sed month we collected over a thousand pieces of Legion gold and silver as well as more ammo then we could ever need. We had so much of it we actually had to start throwing them out.The best part of the month though was all the Exp I earned. Apparently humans are worth alot more than ants and with all of my kill I actually went up six entire levels. The biggest jump I've ever had.That meant over 90 Skill points and 3 Perk points!I put 46 of the 90 into my Repair skill bringing it up to 80. I could have maxed it out but, I would rather leave some s.p.a.ce so all the Repair skill book in the Mojave don't go to waste. Just like every time I Level up I felt a rush of strength. It was crazy how strong I was getting and I could still level up more that 30 times.After finishing up for the day and having not found any squads we could take down. Me and Ca.s.s decided to go back to base early and get some rest. We had been spending the last 30 days doing nothing but, wandering the desert and getting into fights we needed a break.So as we sat in the Brock Flower Cave waiting for some gecko meat to cook. Ca.s.s was lying back on her sleeping bag listening to ED-D play New Vegas Radio. While I was taking apart the Laser Rifle I found to see what was up with it.It ended up being WAY more complicated than I imagined but, with my 80 Science and Repair I was able to safely take it apart without breaking it.And when I saw what was going on inside I broke out laughing. Inside the gun there was actually a speaker making the "pew pew" sounds and a motor to simulate recoil. I was all fake!After thinking about it a bit I had a decent idea why it was made that way.I remembered a story I heard in my old world about how newer cars actually used speakers to enhance the sound of the engine. They did that because people didn't like it when a car was too quite it felt unnatural. So car manufacturers actually added the sounds in so people could 'feel' how powerful their cars were.I figured it was the same for laser weapons. The soldiers didn't like firing a gun with no sound or recoil. I made them feel like they weren't even firing the gun. So it was all added in later to make them easier to use.It only took a second to disable the speakers and motor. And just like I hoped when I gave it a test fire there was no movement or sound. just a thin blue light that melted part of the wall.Now that it was completely silent and no recoil the Laser Rifle would actually be the perfect weapon for a Sniper. Unfortunately my Energy Weapons skill was no where near high enough to make it worth using yet. But, I could imagine what it would be like to take out dozens of enemies without them even realizing they were under attack.Next was the Plasma Pistol, there wasn't really anything I wanted to check specifically I was just curious how it worked.After careful observation I figured out that the bullets from the Plasma Pistol actually contained Krypton 78 a radioactive isotope of Krypton. The Krypton was actually what made the shots green and was even used in neon lights.As for the gun itself it was actually just a glorified magnet. I used an extremely strong and condensed magnetic field to super heat the Krypton.
