Lu Ling frowned. In her eyes, there were confusion and pain. She murmured to herself, "My name is Lu Ling? Lu Renhuang, Northern Desert, Lu Family, Di Long Tribe. I feel I am familiar with them but…why can't I remember? Is my memory really sealed off?"
Lu Ling seemed to be in bigger pain. She put one hand over her forehead and kept rubbing her temple with her ring finger.
Lu Li stopped telling her more for fear that something might happen to her soul. He was afraid to talk too much right now. He had given her enough information for her to think back and reopen her memory.

After a while, Lu Ling suddenly closed her eyes. She shook her head in distress and said, "I cannot think any longer, no. My head is going to explode."
Lu Ling was about to fall. Lu Li helped her up and walked her into the inner room to sit down. He poured her a cup of tea and said, "Sister, there is no rush. Don't think about it if you cannot remember now. In a couple of days, I will take you out of the Drifting Cloud Hall and bring you back to the Northern Desert. I will find someone to unfreeze your memory."
"Leaving the Drifting Cloud Hall?"
Lu Ling's eyes regained clarity. She shook her head and said, "I cannot leave. Before the comes to an end, I will go nowhere. You…leave the Drifting Cloud City. I will have someone send you out. You can come back after the war."
"But…"
Lu Li was hesitating. Then he shook his head in determination and said, "No, sis! I will not leave you. The Drifting Cloud City is too dangerous. I cannot leave you here. Don't worry, sis. When you come back with me to the Northern Desert, not even the master of the Palace of Sun would dare come after us. You will be perfectly safe there."
"Stop!"

Lu Ling was determined. Lu Li had no other choice. He took out a bronze mirror and the potions Ye Cha prepared for him to disguise. But Lu Li was less skilled. His disguise was a bit different. He appeared to be younger. But it was dim outside so n.o.body could tell the difference unless checked carefully.

The door was open and the old maid walked in. Lu Ling said, "He is an old acquaintance of mine and he has offered me a piece of very important information. Send him out. Also…speak to n.o.body about this. Anyone else knows about this must be exterminated."
Looking into her cold eyes, Lu Li knew he could not talk Lu Ling out of this. She clearly didn't want to think about the past and insisted on having the talk after the war. Because her memory was sealed, she didn't have much feeling toward Lu Li. He could kneel in front of her till the end of his life and she still wouldn't change her ideas.
Lu Ling was the same as before. She was a lady with strong opinions and was not an easy person to persuade. Lu Li had to send her meaningful glances and leave with Auntie Li.
She didn't send him out of the hall. Instead, Auntie Li called over a scout to escort Lu Li out. After Lu Li was gone, Lu Ling walked out and said to Auntie Li, "Send Ying to protect him. That person is very important. Don't let him leave the city and don't let him get hurt."
Auntie Li was confused but she didn't probe. She left to make arrangements.
After Auntie Li was gone, Lu Ling stood by the door on her own. She looked toward where Lu Li was gone and murmured, "Brother? I have a brother? He is so familiar to me and yet strange. I think my memory is sealed off. Well…I cannot afford to be distracted. I cannot think of it anymore. I will revisit the matter after the war."
Lu Ling sighed and went back inside, leaving behind a faint scent.
Leaving the Drifting Cloud Hall, Lu Li didn't see Lady Seven. Given that he was sent out under protection, n.o.body questioned him. He stood absent-minded outside the Drifting Cloud Hall for a bit before he walked back to his residence.
Now that Lu Ling had insisted to discuss about the matter after the war, Lu Li had nothing else to do other than go back. He walked for an hour and went back to Meng Ji's yard. On his way back, he did manage to clear his thoughts.
It was not that Lu Ling didn't trust him. As a matter of fact, she must have accepted him as her brother or else she wouldn't ask Auntie Li to send him out.
Lu Ling had a key role to play in this war, which could be supported by the fact that the old guys trusted her according to Lady Seven.
Lu Ling didn't want other matters to disturb her while the war was imminent. Therefore, she had decided to leave the matter aside for now. She would think of a way to unfreeze her memory after the war or come to Lu Li to find her memory back.
