The Invincible Dragon Emperor Chapter 528: Making Trouble?
A lake was located at the northeast corner of the Demon-slaying City. There were some castles. This was a forbidden area that Less than five people of the entire Demon-slaying Hall had access to.
Two people and a small beast appeared out of nowhere by the lake. They emerged silently. The s.p.a.ce didn't have any ripples as if they had always been here.
"Whoosh~"
As soon as Little White emerged, it began checking the surroundings and was only relaxed when saw Lu Li. It dashed into Lu Li's sleeve. Lu Li had cloth bag hidden in his sleeve where Little White liked napping at.
Lu Li only felt a white glare in front of his eyes before he re-emerged by the lake. His was still standing on his Fate Wheel. Surprised, he quickly checked the surroundings and saw the red-haired elder in front of him.
It was an elder because Lu Li sensed he must have lived for a very long time. He just didn't look old, though. Lu Li put away his Fate Wheel, bowed and said, "Greetings, Grand Master."
"Come with me!"
Grand Master said gently with no emotion. He walked toward the lake, by which there was an old stone pavilion. It was built entirely of bluestone. The pavilion had seen history given that many places were weathered.
Grand Master walked into the pavilion and took a seat. He called over a boy servant to get them a set of tea ware. The servant poured Grand Master and Lu Li some tea and left without saying anything.
"Have a seat!"
Grand Master had sat down and was sipping tea. He didn't look at Lu Li and acted quite at home. Lu Li paused for one moment before he took his seat. He wasn't too nervous. Maybe it was because he almost died just now and he now had no fear toward anything.
Grand Master finished his cup and poured himself another. Then he looked at Lu Li and said, "Don't blame your great-grandpa. I have given my consent from the beginning. You must understand to some extend. There are warriors from all major forces at the Demon-slaying Hall. Sometimes, as a Grand Master, I have to make compromises to avoid the Demon-slaying Hall descending into chaos."
Lu Li did understand some of it. The Grand Master was apologizing to him indirectly now. As a Grand Master, it was already rare for him to say so.
Lu Li nodded. He didn't fixate on this and asked in curiosity, "So, what is it that changed your idea? Is…it the strange thing with the statue of Emperor of Heaven Reverse?"
"I cannot tell you that now!"
Grand Master threw Lu Li a look and said, "Your realm is too low. You don't have the right to know about the core confidential information now. All you need to know is that…I have settled the matter for you and no one will cause you trouble in 10 years."
Lu Li stood up, bowed and said, "Thank you very much. I will carry your kindness in my heart."
"That is not necessary!"
Evidently, this was nothing for Grand Master. He was approachable and Lu Li didn't feel stressed at all around him. Grand Master signaled Lu Li to sit down and said, "I have learned all about this matter. You have did something wrong but you did it to protect yourself. The Demon-slaying Hall should have given you justice."
Lu Li took his seat. Grand Master suddenly changed to a serious face and continued, "Lu Li, have you ever thought about joining the Demon-slaying Hall? I can guarantee you that we will provide you infinite recourses for you to cultivate."
"Infinite?"
Lu Li had acc.u.mulated a rich experience but he gasped nonetheless at Grand Master's words. If Lu Li agreed to join the Demon-slaying Hall, he would have more resources than he could use. Even after he reached the Human Sovereign Realm, or the Earth Immortal Realm, if he could, he would still receive endless recourse from the Demon-slaying Hall.
To cultivate in this world would require resources, without which one could not become a powerful warrior even with inborn talent. Lu Li had a full understanding of this point after he became the emperor of the Northern Desert.
Resources provided for the cultivation of the Eternal Realm and the n.o.ble Lord Realm weren't too expensive. The Northern Desert and the Deserted World alone could guarantee the supply. But if there were more than five Human Sovereign Realm warriors at the Northern Desert and the Deserted World, Lu Li was positive that he could not support them, unless he brought the five to the Central Plains for a heist.
How many resources would it require to become an Earth Immortal Realm warrior and after that?
It would be beyond imagination!
If Lu Li could join the Demon-slaying Hall, he would have endless supplies of Mystical Materials. Judging by Grand Master's att.i.tude, Lu Li wouldn't even have to worry about secret skills, Xuan Artifacts and other treasures.
Grand Master had opened a road to the heavens for Lu Li.
Lu Li felt his heart pounding fast uncontrollably. Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself down before he asked, "If I join the Demon-slaying Hall, can you do something for me?"
Grand Master asked with a smile, "For instance?"
Lu Li answered right away, "For instance, save a person for me. She is poisoned by the Immortal's Perish and is not frozen. Also, go to a perilous place to rescue someone and find a missing person and cure my grandpa!"
If Grand Master could do these for him, Lu Li wouldn't mind joining the Demon-slaying Hall. He could be okay with staying at the Demon-slaying City for the rest of his life.
Lu Li stared at Grand Master, waiting for the answer. Grand Master didn't let him down. He nodded and said, "Everything you said is fine. If you join the Demon-slaying Hall, I will send a person myself to help you with those. Demon-slaying Hall cannot interfere with the conflict at the Great Land. None of your demands is related to conflict."
"Buzzing!"
Lu Li's eyes lit up. He almost agreed to join the Demon-slaying Hall right away. However, Grand Master added after a pause, "There is a prerequisite if we are to help you—after you join the Demon-slaying Hall, you must…rebuild your soul. If you are okay, you can ask me for 10 more things like the ones you mentioned and I will do that for you."
"What?"
Like a lightning out of blue. Lu Li trembled. The pa.s.sion in his heart was trenched. He felt chill from the top of his head to toe.
Rebuilding the soul would wipe out all his past memories.
It was not forgetting or sealing off the memory. The memory would vanish. Rebuilding soul would mean the person died and then reincarnated in a new body. He wouldn't recognize Jiang Qiling and Bai Qiuxue even if they were right in front of him.
He would forget all the past and cut ties with his previous life. He would forget Bai Qiuxue, Jiang Qiling, Bai Xiashuang, Madam Yan, Ming Yu, Yu Huashen, Ye Luo and Lu Hongyu and all the others. He wouldn't recall anything when they walked up to him!
In other words, he would become a totally different person, a person with a new start. The present him would die and another Lu Li shall rise. That Lu Li had nothing to do with the current person, apart from residing in the same body!

Lu Li soon shook his head and said, "I don't want to have my soul rebuilt. I would rather die than I chose that."

Grand Master seemed to know this was going to be Lu Li's choice. He sighed and said, "Lu Li, if you want to make grand achievement and become an immortal, you must let go of worldly feelings and focus on cultivation. If you have mental burdens, then you will not have a stable mind and you will have weaknesses. How could a man with weaknesses shatter the barriers in heaven and earth, break free from the world's rules and ascend to heaven and become immortal?"
Grand Master's words made sense. Lu Li replied after some thoughts, "If I have to forgo the most sincere feelings of being a human and become a heartless, cold-blooded person in order to ascend to heaven and become immortal, then I would rather not become an immortal."
