Song Qingchun replied with a soft “thank you” before accepting it and scooping the ice-cream into her mouth with a small spoon.

Su Zhinian did not reply as he turned to the wardrobe to pull out the spare pillow and comforter inside.

Song Qingchun silently sighed in relief. Thankfully, he knew to retrieve his own stuff; this made Song Qingchun feel more comfortable about sharing the same bed because at least they wouldn't sharing the same comforter.

Su Zhinian arranged the comforter on the bed. He was reaching for his pillow when he saw Song Qingchun stick another big scoop of ice-cream into her mouth. He frowned slightly and walked to pick up the cup he left on the table. He walked to Song Qingchun and commented lightly, “Don't eat too much ice-cream in the middle of the night, be careful of acid reflux.”

“Okay.” Song Qingchun pouted and shoved another spoonful into her mouth before placing the carton on the bedside table.

Su Zhinian pa.s.sed Song Qingchun the cup. “Drink some warm milk and don't stay up too late.”

She had thought he'd poured the milk for himself, but it was actually for her.

After a short daze, Song Qingchun accepted the cup with another “thank you.”

The warmth from the cup travelled along her palm and then her chest before finding its way to her heart.

Su Zhinian did not say another word but stacked the pillow he had pulled out of the wardrobe on top of the comforter before pulling them up together and heading toward the bedroom door.
